Checked against Big Cartel: Bulk Edit Orders on September 13, 2026.

Before you start

  • Parcels already handed to the carrier, or going today
  • Tracking already on any order that needs a number, added one at a time first
  • A paid plan, because Big Cartel marks bulk edit a premium feature

Steps

  1. Open the order list

Sign in at app.bigcartel.com and go to Orders.

You should see the order list with its tabs across the top.

  2. Pick the tab that matches the batch

On the Orders page, choose All Orders, Unshipped, Partially Shipped or Shipped depending on what you are editing.

You should see only the orders in that state, which is the scope of what you are about to change.

  3. Select the orders

In the list, use the checkbox next to each order you want, or the checkbox next to Date to take the whole batch at once.

You should see a selection, with the bulk edit menu now available.

  4. Choose the action

From the bulk edit menu, choose Mark as shipped.

You should see the shipped action ready, alongside Export orders, Print packing slips and Export CSV.

  5. Decide about the notifications

Before confirming, choose whether to send a shipment notification to all those customers.

You should see one notification decision applied to every order in the selection.

  6. Confirm and check the tab

Confirm the bulk action, then open the Shipped tab.

You should see the orders you selected sitting under Shipped.

If it goes wrong

No tracking numbers were attached

Bulk marking sets status for many orders at once. There is nowhere in that flow to type a number per order, so any order that needs tracking has to get it from the single order shipment tool first. Use bulk edit for orders whose tracking is already in place, or for parcels that genuinely have none.

Every buyer got the same notice

The notification choice covers the whole selection, so a batch containing one order you would rather explain by hand needs that order left out. Split the selection instead of undoing the emails, because a notification already sent cannot be recalled.

The selection took more than you meant

The checkbox beside Date takes everything visible in that tab, which on a busy week is more than your bench holds. Read the count before confirming, and work tab by tab rather than from All Orders.

The bulk menu is not there

Big Cartel marks bulk edit a premium feature, so on a plan without it you are marking orders shipped one at a time. That is also true of shipment tracking, which their help says is available in the paid plans.

What happens next

The batch leaves Unshipped in 1 action, and 1 notification decision covers all of it. Anything that needed a tracking number and did not get one is now a shipped order with no number, which is the harder thing to find later. Print packing slips and Export orders live in the same menu, so a batch day is usually export first, print second, mark shipped last.

With I'd Ship That

One batch, one merged PDF

Import the day's orders into The Workbench, which is part of Pro, then rate USPS and UPS across the batch and print the labels as one merged PDF. Each label returns its tracking number as it is bought, so the numbers exist before you go back to Big Cartel to mark anything shipped. You see the full price of every label before you buy.

Open The Workbench

No. The bulk actions cover status, packing slips and exports, and tracking is entered per order in the shipment tool. Our guide on uploading tracking numbers in bulk explains the general shape of that problem and the routes that avoid it.

Yes. Select the orders in the Unshipped tab and choose Print packing slips from the actions below the selection, which Big Cartel documents as a 3-dot menu under the selected orders. Print before you mark shipped, so the tab you are working from does not empty under you.

Only one order at a time. Marking an order unshipped deletes the shipping and tracking info you added and does not unsend notifications, so a bulk mistake is a manual repair. Check the selection count twice instead.

The ones whose parcels are actually going to the carrier today, not everything you packed this week. Our guide on which orders are due to ship today covers how to build that queue when the platform does not build it for you.
