Accessibility

What we hold this site to, where it currently falls short, and how to tell us when something is in your way.

Our commitment

We build idshipthat.app to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard courts and regulators in the United States reference, and it is the target every page on this site is measured against.

Accessibility is treated as part of the build, not a later pass: the page templates that generate this site carry the keyboard behaviour, focus indicators, colour contrast and landmark structure once, so every page inherits them, and an automated check runs on every build.

What this site does today

  • Every page declares its language, has exactly one h1, and puts its content in header, nav, main and footer landmarks.
  • A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing keyboard focus reaches.
  • All interactive controls — menus, FAQ accordions, scenario tabs, the calculators and the cookie banner — are operable by keyboard alone and show a visible focus outline.
  • Text and interface colours meet or exceed the 4.5:1 contrast ratio in both the light and the dark theme.
  • Images carry alternative text, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers rather than read out as noise.
  • Animation and motion are suppressed when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • Form fields are labelled, and results that update in place are announced.

Known limitations

We would rather list these than claim conformance we have not verified.

  • The app itself. The shipping application at app.idshipthat.app and the iOS and Android apps are built in Flutter and have not yet been audited against WCAG 2.1 AA. That work is planned and is not covered by the statement above. If you hit a barrier there, the contact route below is the fastest way to get help with any task you cannot complete.
  • Our blog. Pages under /blog/ are produced by a separate publishing pipeline. They use the same design tokens and the same consent layer, but they do not yet inherit every template-level fix listed above.
  • Third-party content. Advertising served by Google and embedded content we do not author are outside our control, and we cannot guarantee their accessibility.
  • Testing coverage. Our checks are automated plus manual keyboard and structure review. They are not a substitute for a full audit with assistive technology, which we have not yet commissioned.

Tell us about a barrier

If any part of this site or our apps is difficult or impossible for you to use, email support@idshipthat.app with “Accessibility” in the subject line. Tell us the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the browser or assistive technology you use, if you know it — but none of that is required, and we will not turn a report away for missing it.

We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to tell you either when it will be fixed or how we can help you complete the task in the meantime. If we cannot make something accessible, we will say so and offer an alternative way to get it done.

This statement

Prepared on 2026-08-21 and reviewed whenever the page templates change. It describes a partially conformant site: the marketing pages target WCAG 2.1 Level AA, and the limitations above are the parts we know do not meet it yet.
