How to acknowledge a Walmart order

The orders you intend to ship today read Acknowledged instead of New, so the queue you buy labels from is the queue you actually own.

Checked against Walmart's guide to acknowledging orders in Seller Center on September 13, 2026.

Before you start

  • Seller Center access to the Orders page.
  • Stock in hand for the items you are about to acknowledge.
  • A clear view of which orders you can realistically ship today.

Steps

  1. Open the Orders page in Seller Center

In Seller Center, open the Orders page.

You should see the Unshipped, Shipped, Canceled and All views.

  2. Find the orders whose Status reads New

On the Unshipped view, look down the Status column for New.

  3. Select the items you are going to ship

Pick the items you can fulfil, leaving anything you cannot cover.

  4. Select Acknowledge items

Select the Acknowledge items button in the top navigation bar.

You should see the Status column update from New to Acknowledged.

  5. Buy the labels for the acknowledged orders

Work from the acknowledged list, so what you print matches what you have committed to.

If it goes wrong

You acknowledged something you cannot ship

Acknowledging says you can fulfil the item. Cancelling afterwards is counted, and Walmart asks sellers to keep Cancellation Rate at "a rate of 2% or below".

Nothing is shipped yet

Acknowledged is not Shipped. The order still needs a carrier and tracking number, entered through Ship items and Mark as shipped, before Walmart sees it as on its way.

The list you printed from has moved on

New orders arrive while you pack. Re-read the Unshipped view before your last drop-off rather than trusting the list you exported at breakfast.

What happens next

Acknowledging sets up the two metrics that follow it. Late Shipment Rate has to stay at "a rate of 5% or below" and Cancellation Rate at "a rate of 2% or below", both measured against the orders you took on.

Next comes the tracking number, and Walmart wants valid tracking information "for at least 99% of your shipments", so the carrier and the number matter as much as the speed. Once you mark the order shipped, the correction window is 24 hours or the first carrier touch scan, whichever is earlier.

Turn the acknowledged list into one print run

The acknowledged queue is the natural batch. Import a CSV or paste those rows into The Workbench, part of Pro, rate them against USPS and UPS together, then print one merged PDF. The tracking numbers come back per row, ready to enter in Seller Center.

Open The Workbench

It moves the item's Status from New to Acknowledged, which Walmart describes as confirming your ability to promptly fulfil the item. It does not mark anything shipped.

Yes. Select the items and use the Acknowledge items button in the top navigation bar of the Orders page.

Acknowledging first keeps your queue honest, because the acknowledged list is what you committed to fulfil. The label itself can come from any carrier on Walmart's approved list.
