How to ship one Walmart order in two boxes
The purchase order is shipped in two recorded shipments, each with its own carrier and tracking number.
Checked against Walmart's guide to splitting customer orders in Seller Center on September 13, 2026.
Before you start
- Both labels bought and printed, from carriers on Walmart's approved list.
- The quantity going in each box, decided before you open the order.
- Both tracking numbers to hand, kept with the box each belongs to.
- Seller Center access to the Orders page.
Steps
-
Open the Orders page in Seller Center
In Seller Center, open the Orders page.
-
Open the order by its purchase order number
Find it using the Order # drop-down menu or the Purchase order# column, then select the purchase order number link.
You should see the order's details with every item listed.
-
Select Ship items
On the order, select Ship items.
You should see drop-down menus against each item.
-
Set the first box's quantity
In the drop-down menus, select Ship and the quantity that went in the first box.
-
Leave the rest as New
For the remaining items, select New so they stay open for the second shipment.
-
Enter the first box's carrier and tracking number
In the Shipping details section, enter the carrier and tracking number for that box.
-
Select Mark as shipped
Select Mark as shipped for this shipment only.
You should see part of the order shipped, with the rest still open.
-
Repeat for the second box
Open the same purchase order number again and run the same steps with the second box's quantity, carrier and tracking number.
If it goes wrong
- One number will not cover two boxes
Walmart's requirement is per parcel: "Since each package has its own tracking information, you must record each split order separately." A number entered twice leaves one box untraceable on Walmart's side.
- "the tracking number doesn't match the selected carrier or the required format"
Two labels means two chances to pair a number with the wrong carrier. Walmart's own diagnosis of that error is that "the tracking number doesn't match the selected carrier or the required format".
- Each shipment has its own edit window
The 24 hours or first touch scan window runs per shipment, so the first box can already be locked while you are still typing the second one.
What happens next
Both shipments are counted on their own, so both feed Valid Tracking Rate at 99% or above and On-Time Delivery Rate at 90% or above. If one box goes a day later than the other, that shipment is judged a day later, which is why the quantity you claim in each shipment has to match what physically left. Neither parcel carries the Ship with Walmart cover of up to $100 per qualifying order when the label came from elsewhere, so a lost second box is a claim with your carrier.
Two parcels, priced and printed together
Split the order across boxes here, rate each one against USPS and UPS, and print both labels in a single merged PDF. The batch keeps each tracking number next to its parcel, which is the order you need when you record the two shipments in Seller Center.
