Checked against Discogs: What Do The Different Order Statuses Mean? on September 13, 2026.

Before you start

  • The parcel already handed to the carrier, or on its way there today.
  • The tracking number from your postage, if the service you bought has one.
  • The order in Payment Received, since Discogs advises waiting for cleared payment before shipping.

Steps

  1. Open the order from My Orders

In Discogs, go to My Orders and open the order you have packed.

You should see the order page, with the order table and a green button below it.

  2. Select the green button below the order table

On the order page, use the green button below the order table to update the order status.

You should see the statuses you are allowed to set from where the order is now.

  3. Set the status to Shipped

Choose Shipped, which Discogs describes as the status to set "once the order has been shipped to the buyer".

You should see the order reading Shipped on the order page.

  4. Post the tracking number on the order page

Post the number in a message on the order page. Discogs tells sellers to "be sure to post the tracking number on the order page".

You should see the number on the order page, and the message in the buyer's email and their Discogs Inbox.

  5. Optional: Name the carrier in the same message

Add the carrier name beside the number, since Discogs records no carrier of its own.

You should see a buyer who knows which carrier to chase.

If it goes wrong

There is no carrier dropdown to find

Discogs documents no carrier field and no tracking field of its own. Its instruction is to "be sure to post the tracking number on the order page", so the number and the carrier name both belong in an order-page message.

The order is in Payment Pending

Payment Pending means the payment has not cleared. Discogs advises sellers "to wait until the order is set to Payment Received before sending out your items", so hold the parcel rather than shipping against a pending e-check.

You cannot step backwards

In Progress is the optional status between Payment Received and Shipped, and Discogs says "sellers cannot skip to or revert back to this status". Set statuses as the parcel actually moves.

What happens next

Discogs' Seller Policy ties the status to the clock: "after payment has been received, You will ship the order and update the order status to Shipped within the timeframe stated in Your Seller Terms." With no timeframe stated, the buyer may request a cancellation for "Item Unavailable" after 4 calendar days. Order-page questions carry their own 4-day answer rule, and Discogs says failing it "may result in suspension of Your account".

With I'd Ship That

Buy the postage, then post the number

Price USPS and UPS for the packed mailer in our app, buy and print the label, then post its tracking number on the Discogs order page. Weight comes from your saved product presets or from what you type once.

Buy the label

Discogs documents no carrier field and no tracking prompt. Put the number on the order page, where the message reaches the buyer by email and in their Discogs Inbox.

Discogs does not require it on every order, and notes that "not all shipments will include tracking without request". Your Seller Terms and the service you buy decide it.

Discogs describes the status as one the seller sets "once the order has been shipped to the buyer". Setting it early hides a real delay from the buyer and from the cancellation clock.

Messages you post on the order page go to the buyer's email address and their Discogs Inbox, which is why the tracking number belongs in one of them.
