How to void a Discogs shipping label

Before you start

• The order the label was bought on, in My Orders.
• The label purchase date, since USPS labels are voidable for 28 days from it.
• Confirmation the parcel has not shipped on that label.

Steps

1. Open the order page for the label

   In My Orders, open the order whose label you want to void.

   You should see the order page with its shipping label controls.

2. Select View Label Options

   On the order page, select View Label Options.

   You should see the shipping label window for that order.

3. Select Void Label at the bottom of the window

   At the bottom of the shipping label window, select Void Label.

   You should see the label voided, and a refund request sent to the carrier.

4. Optional: Use View Or Cancel Shipping Labels to check your labels

   Back on the order page, select View Or Cancel Shipping Labels to review what you have bought on the order.

   You should see the labels for that order, with the voided one no longer live.

If it goes wrong

28 days from purchase, not from printing

Discogs says "USPS labels can be voided within 28 days of the label purchase date". That is a generous window next to most platforms, but it runs from the purchase, so a label bought for an order that stalled still ages.

The refund is a request, not a reversal

Discogs notes that "voiding a label will send an automatic refund request to the carrier". Treat the money as pending until the carrier settles it rather than expecting it back the same day.

The order status does not move on its own

Statuses on a Discogs order are set by the seller. Voiding a label leaves the order where it was, so it still needs Shipped and a tracking number once the parcel really goes.

What happens next

After the void, buy the postage you actually need and close the order out the usual way: the green button below the order table, status Shipped, then the tracking number posted on the order page. Discogs' timing rules keep running through all of this, so a void on day 3 of a 4-day window still leaves you a day to ship before the buyer can request an "Item Unavailable" cancellation.
