How to ship one Etsy order in two boxes

Before you start

• Both labels bought and printed
• Both tracking numbers, kept apart from each other
• The order already completed with the first parcel

Steps

1. Enter the first parcel on the order

   In the Complete order panel, set the ship date, choose the carrier and enter the first tracking number.

   You should see the first parcel's details filled in, with Complete order still to select.

2. Complete the order

   Select Complete order.

   You should see the order in the Completed tab with one number on it.

3. Open the completed order's menu

   In the Completed tab, select the three dot menu on the order.

   You should see the order actions, including Add a package.

4. Start the second parcel

   Select Add a package.

   You should see a fresh set of ship date, carrier and tracking fields, with the first parcel left alone.

5. Enter the second parcel

   Set the ship date for that box, choose its carrier and enter its tracking number.

6. Save the package

   Save the package to the order.

   You should see two numbers listed on the order, each with its own date.

7. Optional: Note what is in each box

   Message the buyer with which items are in which parcel, so a part delivery does not read as a missing order.

If it goes wrong

Typing the second number over the first

Editing the existing tracking replaces it. Add a package is the only route that keeps both, so use the three dot menu rather than Edit tracking.

"The tracking number is already in use for this order."

You are re-entering a number the order already holds. Check which parcels are listed before adding, because a duplicated number leaves one real parcel invisible.

One date for two drop-offs

Each package carries its own ship date. Giving the second box the first box's date puts a date on Etsy's record that the carrier scan will not support.

What happens next
