How to ship a Depop order with your own label
The listing is on your own shipping, the parcel goes out on a tracked service, and the number is on the receipt inside Depop's 10 day limit.
Checked against Depop's How to ship (US) on September 13, 2026.
Before you start
- The listing open for editing, before anyone buys it
- A tracked USPS or UPS service you can buy
- The sale date, because the clock starts there
Steps
-
Open the listing's shipping settings
Depop's instruction is that "you can edit the shipping settings for your listing by selecting Domestic > My own Shipping". Open the listing you are about to post, or one that has not sold yet.
-
Select your own shipping
Select Domestic, then select My own Shipping.
You should see the listing's shipping method shown as Other.
-
Check it stuck, especially on Android
Depop sets new listings on Android accounts to a Depop USPS label by default. Read the shipping method back on the finished listing before you post it.
-
Buy a tracked service when it sells
Depop requires tracking on this route: "you must use tracked shipping". Untracked postage leaves you with nothing to enter on the receipt.
-
Add the tracking number to the receipt
Mark the order as shipped and enter the number, within 10 days of the sale.
You should see the order showing as shipped, with the number on the receipt the buyer sees.
If it goes wrong
- The listing was on Depop Shipping
That choice is binding. Depop states "If you select Depop Shipping, you must then use the label generated on Depop", and that shipping another way means "your order may be automatically canceled and refunded" (depophelp.zendesk.com, checked 13 September 2026).
- You cannot find My own Shipping
Depop documents the setting under Domestic in the listing's shipping settings, and its help centre still carried that route in September 2026. If your listing form does not offer it, do not ship around it: a listing left on Depop Shipping has to travel on the Depop label.
- Tracking entered wrong
Depop says "You won't be able to amend the tracking information once added". Read the number off the label before you submit it, because there is no correction path.
What happens next
Two numbers matter from here. You have 10 days from the sale to put tracking on the receipt or the order cancels and the buyer is refunded.
Depop Protection does not follow you onto this route: it covers sellers "who ship using a Depop Shipping label", with a $300 cap in the US, and excludes "items sent using any method other than a shipping label purchased through Depop". A lost parcel is a claim you file with your carrier.
Buy the tracked label, paste the number back
We price USPS and UPS for the parcel and you buy the label from your gold balance, so the service is tracked by default. The tracking number stays on screen for pasting onto the Depop receipt. Weight comes from your saved product presets or from what you type once.
Related questions
Yes, when the listing is set to My own Shipping. Depop's own wording is that you "organize and pay for shipping yourself" and that "you must use tracked shipping".
No. A listing sold on Depop Shipping has to travel on the Depop label, and shipping it another way risks an automatic cancellation and refund.
Depop applies a USPS label default to new listings on Android accounts. Set the method on each listing and read it back before posting.
Depop's boosting fee is charged on your shipping cost as well as the item when you do not use their label, so include the postage in the sums.
