Shipping software for eBay sellers
If you sell only on eBay and buy a few labels a day, eBay Labels covers it. Add a separate tool when you sell beyond eBay or batch a full day, and judge it on eBay's own scorecard: tracking up inside handling time, a carrier eBay can read, every row priced first, and one scan at handoff.

Should you keep using eBay Labels?#
eBay Labels is the default shipping software for eBay sellers, and for many it is the right one. It prints from Orders in My eBay or Seller Hub, sells USPS and UPS labels among others, and uploads tracking to the order with no setup. Its bulk shipping tool takes two or more orders: select them, choose Purchase Shipping Labels from the Shipping dropdown, pay once and print.
The eBay Standard Envelope is sold only there: flat items in nine categories, such as trading cards, coins and stamps, selling for up to $20, up to 3 oz and under 1/4 inch thick. I'd Ship That does not sell it, so qualifying cards and coins belong on it.
Stay with eBay Labels when
- eBay is your only sales channel.
- You buy a handful of labels a day in Seller Hub.
- Most of what you sell fits the Standard Envelope.
- Each order is one item off one shelf: no pick list needed.
Add a separate tool when
- You also sell on Etsy, resale apps or direct, and want one list of today's orders.
- You want every order's full label price before you buy.
- Your bench needs a pick list, a packing slip per box and one SCAN form.
- Someone packs with you and needs their own login.
Keep the Standard Envelope on eBay either way. Judge everything else on the three checks below.
The three eBay checks any shipping tool must pass#
eBay grades the record on each order, not the tool. Handling time runs in business days from payment to the first carrier scan; a shipment is late when delivery lands after the latest estimated date with no carrier scan inside handling time.
- Evaluated
- On the 20th of each month: over three months if you had more than 400 transactions in them, otherwise twelve.
- Late shipment rate
- Top Rated allows no more than 5 late shipments or 3% of transactions.
| Check | What eBay measures | What to look for | In I'd Ship That |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tracking goes up on time | Tracking uploaded within handling time, on 95% of transactions for Top Rated | Tracking written to the order when the label is bought, not at day's end | The number goes back to eBay as you buy, and eBay marks the order Shipped |
| A carrier eBay can read | A number from an integrated carrier on eBay's list, with scans eBay can validate | The carrier sent with the number, not just the digits | USPS or UPS goes back with every number |
| A scan inside handling time | The first carrier scan closes the handling window | A way to get the whole stack scanned the day you print | A SCAN form for the day's USPS labels you print, free from My Labels |
A number posted under the wrong carrier will not validate, leaving the order outside the tracking standard and you without a delivery record in an item not received case. After switching tools, open one order in Seller Hub and check the carrier and scans are on it.
What happens to an eBay order in I'd Ship That?#
Connect your eBay seller account once. Each paid eBay order in your list then arrives by itself minutes after payment, with the buyer, address, items and a weight from the listing where it has one. Unpaid orders stay on eBay.
- The buyer pays, and the order appears with the address and listing weight.
- Check the weight and box: a listing weight is a head start, not a measurement.
- Buy the label. Tracking and carrier reach eBay, which marks the order Shipped and emails the buyer.
- Print, pack and get it scanned inside your handling time.
Each order shows its full price for that buyer's address before you buy. We send eBay only the tracking and the carrier, and never cancel, refund or edit an eBay order.
Two paid orders to one buyer#
A buyer who wins two auctions an hour apart pays twice, and eBay keeps two orders, each graded on its own for handling time, late shipments and tracking.
- Not paid yet
- Send a combined invoice: set combined shipping rules in Shipping Preferences, enable combined invoices, select the orders, send one invoice.
- Already paid
- Ship together and return the shipping paid twice as a partial refund, in Seller Hub.
- One box, two orders
- eBay lets one tracking number go on several orders. A label bought here sends its number to its own order; add it to the other in Seller Hub the same day.
- Cannot be combined
- eBay lists, among others, PSA Vault items, local pickup, most Authenticity Guarantee items, Best Offer purchases and some international items. Ship those on their own label.
Check both orders go to the same address, not just the same buyer. Combining eBay orders from one buyer walks through eBay's side.
Printing the day's eBay labels as one 4x6 batch#
In The Workbench (Pro), price and buy the orders you are packing together, and print the run as one 4x6 batch PDF for a thermal label printer, or on letter. Every row starts on the cheapest rate shown; a buyer who paid for Priority Mail gets Priority Mail.
Set the printer to 4x6 at actual size. With packing slips, each label comes out followed by its own slip, barcoded with its order number. Slips and pick lists for connected-store orders are free on either plan.
One SCAN form for everything you print#
eBay reads the scan date, not the label date: a parcel dropped after the last collection is scanned the next business day. A USPS SCAN form, PS Form 5630, lists every package under one master barcode, and USPS says one scan of it enters each one in USPS Tracking as Shipment Accepted.
- Make it
- From My Labels, free, or The Workbench on Pro, once the day's USPS labels are bought.
- What it lists
- USPS labels you print yourself, from eBay orders and everything else. Not a label bought for printing at the Post Office, and not UPS.
- No counter trip
- Schedule a USPS carrier pickup from the app at no charge.
USPS checks the parcel count against the form's total, not which parcels were in the stack. Keep the scanned form with the day's pick list.
Selling on more than eBay#
This is usually why a seller on more than eBay looks for separate software: eBay Labels sees eBay orders, and your Etsy orders, direct sales and wholesale invoices live somewhere else.
- eBay
- The store you connect. Orders arrive by themselves; tracking goes back as you buy.
- Etsy
- Etsy's Orders CSV, which The Workbench reads. Tracking goes back into Etsy by hand.
- Excel and pastes
- Land in the same list. The Workbench exports the batch's tracking numbers as a CSV for marketplaces that take a file.
- Resale apps
- Poshmark and StockX sales, and Vinted sales on its prepaid label, ship on the app's own label and never enter your list.
- Other stores
- Other store connections show as Early access in the app.
Shipping software for resellers sorts out which app supplies its own label, and Shipping software for Etsy sellers covers the Etsy file.
Bring today's eBay orders in#
Free account, pay per label. Paid orders arrive with the address and listing weight, and tracking goes back to eBay the moment you buy.
Connect eBayeBay shipping software questions#
No. eBay needs the tracking number on the order, from a carrier on its integrated list, uploaded inside your handling time; the label can come from anywhere. A label from I'd Ship That puts the number and carrier on the eBay order the moment you buy it.
Yes, when it passes the same test as an eBay label: a number from an integrated carrier such as USPS or UPS, uploaded within handling time, with a carrier scan behind it. Top Rated asks for that on at least 95% of transactions. See which carriers eBay accepts tracking from.
Yes. For an order from your connected eBay account, the tracking number and carrier go back to eBay as you buy, and eBay marks the order Shipped and emails the buyer.
Yes, for anything that qualifies: flat items in eBay's nine eligible categories, such as trading cards, coins, stamps and postcards, selling for up to $20, up to 3 oz and under 1/4 inch thick. It is bought through eBay Labels; I'd Ship That does not sell it.
Yes. The Workbench (Pro) prints the whole run as one 4x6 PDF through your device's print dialog. Set the printer's paper size to 4x6 and print at actual size so the labels are not shrunk onto letter paper.
Nothing: connecting eBay is free on the free Starter plan, where you pay per label plus a platform fee on each. Batching orders in The Workbench is part of Pro, which removes that fee. Billing and fees lists every charge.
